Doors closed
Compare sightlines, glass area, mullion locations, privacy needs, and the view from seated positions. Consider handles and screens as part of the complete design.
Separate the operating style from performance
A door style alone does not establish energy efficiency, water resistance, security, or suitability for a coastal project. Compare documented results for the exact frame, glass, dimensions, and threshold being proposed.

Consider sliding when…
You prefer panels to move along the opening without a hinged swing into the room or patio. Confirm how much opening remains clear in the selected layout.
Consider French doors when…
A hinged pair suits your opening and you have space for the leaves to swing. Sidelites may add glass, but fixed sidelites do not increase the walk-through opening.
