Lanai Doors™ Aluminum Hurricane-certified Folding Door & Window Systems : Configurations
Lanai Doors™ hurricane systems are custom built to the size of your rough opening, outside frame dimensions, or a specific panel size. The maximum size hurricane-certified panel is 36 inches wide by 96 inches tall. With our narrow stiles and rails, a maximum sized panel has 77% visible glass. Lanai's hurricane systems can be built with up to 16 panels (48-foot wide opening) with no more than eight panels folding to either direction. Customers have the choice of 80 INswing or 80 OUTswing configurations.
INswing or OUTswing
Do you want your panels stacking inside or outside? Lanai Doors™ qualified both INswing and OUTswing configurations for their hurricane rated systems. Stacking the doors or windows on the outside will allow furniture on the inside to be placed close to the opening, and OUTswing doors with a standard threshold are more weather-tight. Stacking the panels on the inside may be preferred when there is a narrow balcony or if you want stationary furniture on the outside near the opening.
Locking Hardware
If you desire a 'man' door (accessibility from the outside), keep in mind that the configuration must include an odd number of panel(s) in at least one direction. As noted in the above diagram, the configurations that are marked with an asteriks cannot have a 'man' door.
Panel Direction
Do you want all of your panels stacking to the right or to the left? Or do you want panels stacking in both directions and coming together somewhere in the middle? Configurations are always determined by standing outside looking in. The configurations in the pyramid above are available as either an INswing or an OUTswing.
3-5/8", 7-1/4" & 11" Rail
For aesthetic or regulatory purposes, customers have the option between our standard 3-5/8" wide rail or our 7-1/4" and 11" extended rails.
